Loans

Student loans are educational funds that must be repaid with interest.  Student loans should be considered after all other forms of financial assistance have been exhausted.

Shawnee Community College is no longer participating in the Federal Direct Student Loan program.  Students needing loan funds should apply for a Private Alternative Student Loan.

Private Alternative Loans

Student loan programs provide long-term educational loans to eligible students. All students who apply for a private, alternative loan must first submit a FAFSA using Shawnee Community College’s federal school code 007693.

Shawnee Community College will process any loan through any lender of the student’s choosing. SCC chooses not to recommend lenders to students to allow students the flexibility of using the lender that best fits their needs. Students are encouraged to shop for the right loan for them. SCC refers students to Private Alternative Loan lenders who will determine a student’s eligibility to borrow. Credit checks and/or co-signers are required.
