Jim was born and raised in Metropolis. Graduating from Metropolis Community High School in 1970, Jim was in the second graduating class at Shawnee Community College (1972).

Jim has announced motorsports for 44 years and retired from Honeywell after 40.5 years of service. Jim is currently in his 22 nd year of being the voice of the Shawnee Saints men’s basketball team.
