It’s a homecoming for Tiffany Schultz to serve on the Shawnee Community College Board of Trustees. The lifelong Alexander County resident was elected to the board in April 2023, 24 years after earning her Associate of Arts degree from SCC.
Tiffany earned her bachelor's degree in agribusiness economics from Southern Illinois University in 2002. She received a certificate in Special Education LBS-1 from Eastern Illinois University in 2007 and earned her master’s in Educational Administration and Leadership from McKendree University in 2017.
Tiffany is also a Down Syndrome Educational Specialist and is the Shawnee Education Association president.
“Serving on Shawnee Community College’s Board of Trustees is important to me as a 1999 graduate because of the jump start it gave me in my adult life. SCC was the place I was able to branch out and figure out what my interests were and what career I wanted to pursue. SCC helped me in transitioning from high school to college to a university. I want to give back to the place that provided me so much, " Tiffany said.
Tiffany enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Justin, and their children, Aubrey and Coy, camping, hiking, and foraging. She also likes to can and process food, including her favorite dandelion jelly and wild violet lemonade. Additionally, she teaches Ladies’ Sunday School classes at Alexander Free Will Baptist Church.
Her one movie recommendation is Wonder because she says it teaches you to be kind and treat others respectfully.
“It shows the viewpoint of someone with a disability that we so often do not see and being a special education teacher, that is what I want the world to know and value - how they make others feel, especially those that look different,” said Tiffany.
