A native of Union County, and a current resident of Johnson County, Shawnee Community College is very dear to my heart. As a graduate of SCC, I went onto Southern Illinois University, Carbondale and graduated with a Masters of Education degree in Mathematics Education.

My family has been actively associated with SCC since its beginning. My father, John B. Shelton, was the first instructor hired to teach at SCC where he taught Speech, English, and Literature courses for over 25 years, retiring in December of 1994.

I have one son, Benjamin, who has served eight years in the United States Air Force. His wife, Paige, is a registered nurse. I have been blessed with two grandsons.

Having worked in the field of education for over 40 years (33 years being at Vienna Grade School as a third-grade teacher). Since my retirement in May 2017, I have been serving as a substitute teacher at Vienna Grade School whenever I am not spending time with my grandchildren.
