Shawnee Community College students, faculty, and staff see moments every day that help tell the Shawnee story. The Show Us Your Shawnee Monthly Photography Contest is your chance to capture those moments and share them with us. We are looking for original photos of the people, places, activities, programs, events, scenery, and everyday experiences that make Shawnee Community College special. Photos do not need to be professionally taken. Smartphone photos are encouraged. Submitted photos may be featured in Shawnee Community College communications, including social media, the College website, publications, digital signage, advertising, recruitment materials, and other promotional uses.

Employees responsible for administering or judging the contest are not eligible to win.
Submit your photo through the official Show Us Your Shawnee online submission form on this page. Participants may submit up to three photos per month. Please upload the highest-resolution version of each photo available.
Each submission should include the photographer's name and SCC email address, the photo, and a brief description of what is happening in the image and why it represents Shawnee.
Show us Shawnee through your eyes.
Possible subjects include:
- Students learning, studying, or participating in campus activities
- Classroom, laboratory, career and technical education, or other hands-on learning experiences
- Student clubs, organizations, athletics, and student life
- College events and activities
- Bernie and Saints spirit
- Campus and extension center scenery
1. Entries must be original photographs taken by the person submitting them.
2. Photos must have a clear connection to Shawnee Community College, its locations, programs, activities, students, employees, or communities.
3. Both horizontal and vertical photographs are welcome.
4. Basic adjustments such as cropping and changes to brightness, contrast, or color are permitted. Images that substantially alter or misrepresent the original scene may be disqualified.
5. AI-generated images are not eligible.
6. Photos containing inappropriate, offensive, unsafe, illegal, copyrighted, or otherwise unsuitable content will not be considered.
7. Entrants should have permission from individuals who are prominently and identifiably featured in submitted photographs. Additional College release requirements may apply before an image is published.
8. Participants may submit up to three photos per contest month.
9. Entries are judged only during the month in which they are submitted and do not roll over into future monthly contests.
10. A photo that does not win may still be used by Shawnee Community College in future communications under the photo-use terms below.
11. Previous winning photographs are not eligible to win again.
12. Shawnee Community College reserves the right to determine whether a submission meets contest requirements.
Eligible photographs will be reviewed by the Shawnee Community College Public Information and Marketing Department and/or a designated selection committee. The contest is not determined by public voting.
Connection to Shawnee- 30%: How well does the photograph capture the people, places, experiences, or spirit of Shawnee Community College?
Storytelling - 25%: Does the photograph tell an interesting story or capture a meaningful moment?
Visual Impact - 20%: Does the photograph attract attention and communicate effectively?
Creativity and Originality - 15%: Does the photographer show Shawnee from an interesting or unexpected perspective?
Potential Marketing Use - 10%: Could the image effectively support College communications, social media, publications, the website, advertising, recruitment, or other marketing efforts?
The photograph receiving the highest overall evaluation will be named the Show Us Your Shawnee Photo of the Month. The College reserves the right not to select a winner if no eligible submission meets contest standards.
$50 Photo of the Month Prize - One monthly winner will receive a $50 cash prize. Shawnee Community College will also recognize the winning photographer, and the winning image may be featured in SCC communications.
Random Participation Drawing: Each eligible participant will also be entered into a monthly drawing. The drawing winner may choose either a $10 Campus Bookstore Gift Certificate or one free meal in the SCC cafeteria.
Submitting multiple photos does not increase the number of entries in the random drawing; each eligible participant receives one drawing entry per month.
The Photo of the Month winner remains eligible for the random drawing. Prize payments and awards are subject to applicable Shawnee Community College policies and procedures.
Each contest runs from the first day through the last day of the calendar month. Entries received during that period are considered only for that month's Photo of the Month award.
The winning photo and random drawing winner will normally be announced during the first week of the following month. A new contest period begins each month.
By entering the contest, participants grant Shawnee Community College permission to reproduce, crop, resize, edit, publish, display, and otherwise use submitted photographs for College communications, marketing, advertising, promotional, educational, and recruitment purposes without additional compensation.
Photographers retain ownership of their original photographs. Submission does not guarantee that a photograph will be published or otherwise used by the College. When practical and appropriate, Shawnee Community College may provide photographer credit when submitted photographs are used.
